This Privacy Statement describes the information Ritchie Bros. EquipmentOne collects through (the "Website"), how we use it, how we protect it and the choices you can make about your information. This Privacy Statement may be supplemented or modified by agreements entered into between us and an individual from time to time.

By using this Website and any of the services, applications or tools being offered through the Website (collectively, the “Service”), you are accepting the terms of this Privacy Statement and our User Agreement and Website Rules and consenting to our collection, use, disclosure, retention and protection of your information as described in this Privacy Statement.

If you are located outside of the United States, please note that the Service is hosted in the United States. Therefore, your information, including any personal information provided pursuant to the Service, will be processed and stored in the United States. We collect and retain information from you and any devices you may use when you access or use the Service, sign-up for a membership account with us, provide us information on a web form, update or add information to your membership account, list and sell or purchase items, participate in dispute resolution or when you otherwise correspond with us regarding the Service.

    • Contact information (name, address, telephone numbers and email addresses) when you register your membership or subscribe for email notifications
    • Listing, buying or selling information you provide when listing or completing a transaction (i.e. item location or tax ID), or other related content that you generate or that is associated with your account as a result of a listing or completed transaction
    • Bank account information in connection with a listing or transaction
    • Other information you provide to us through a web form (i.e. feedback), updating or adding membership account information, updating your inventory search or marketing preferences, or your participation in Q&A for a particular lot or dispute resolution
    • Additional information we are required or authorized by applicable law to collect in order to authenticate or identify you or to verify the information we have collected
  2. Information received from other sources, for instance:
    • Information we collect from third parties that supplements our existing information about you (i.e. publicly available demographic information or additional contact information)
    • Information you give us about someone else, in which case you must only do so with prior explicit consent
  3. Information we may automatically collect when you use the Service, including:
    • Computer and connection information such as statistics on your page views, traffic to and from the Website, IP address, ad data, browser details and web log information
    • If you access the Service from a mobile or other device, we may collect a unique device identifier assigned to that device, geo-location data (unless you’ve disabled the use of location services in your device’s settings’ menu), advertising ID or other transactional information for that device
    • Information regarding the pages you view, search parameters, the links you click and other actions you take on the Service through the use of cookies, web beacons and similar technologies. Information Use

We use information collected from individuals to provide products or services, to respond to requests for information regarding our products and services, and for additional purposes outlined below.

We may use information collected for the following purposes:

  1. To provide and manage the Service, including:
    • Creating or adding to your membership profile
    • Keeping track of your equipment watchlist and saved searches
    • Giving you access to your purchase history, bids and other features
    • Providing access to opportunities on behalf of other members of the Ritchie Bros. corporate family and their financial institution partners
    • Allowing you to participate in bidding, Q&A and complete transactions using the Service
  2. To contact you by phone or email, to:
    • Notify you regarding your membership account, bidding status and transactional activity
    • Collect fees or monies owed, poll your opinion through surveys or questionnaires, resolve disputes or otherwise necessary to provide customer service
    • Inform you about our services, upcoming events and promotional offers and those of other members of the Ritchie Bros. corporate family (so long as the required consent to do has been obtained in accordance with applicable law)
  3. To deliver relevant content and advertising, by:
    • Generating and analyzing reports and data about your patterns of usage of the Service or after combining your information with information relating to your use of services provided by other members of the Ritchie Bros. corporate family
    • Personalizing and improving the navigation and look of the Service, as well as, our adverting on the Service based on your customized preferences and usage
    • Using targeted marketing and making promotional offers based on your communication preferences
    • Working with unaffiliated third party service providers who help deliver ads relating to our Service or services provided by other members of the Ritchie Bros. corporate family which we believe are consistent with your interests when using the Service or other unaffiliated websites
  4. To protect our rights and the rights of others, such as:
    • Enforcing our User Agreement or Website Rules
    • Detecting, protecting against and investigating fraud, security breaches, potentially prohibited or illegal activities

  1. Users of the Service. When completing a transaction through the Service, we will disclose information about successful buyers and sellers to those parties to the limited extent required to facilitate the purchase and sale of items being listed for sale, or in the event of a dispute between a buyer and seller post-sale which we are assisting to resolve through our dispute resolution process. Information provided may include your name, username, email address, contact details, or other information from you needed to promote the reliability and security of the transaction. When you receive or are given access to information about another user from us, you may only use it for EquipmentOne transaction-related purposes, or for other services provided by the Service. Using personal information of other users that you have access to or receive for any other purpose constitutes a violation of our User Agreement.
  2. Third Parties. We may use third parties or affiliated entities to perform functions in connection with the Service (for example, Google Analytics for data analysis and Marketo for email marketing automation services). We may share information about you that they need to perform their functions and will take appropriate steps to ensure that such recipients safeguard the personal information and use the information only for authorized purposes. If we partner with another party to provide specific services, and a user registers for these services, we will share the contact information or other information necessary for the third party to provide the requested services. We may also disclose personal information to legal, financial, and other professional advisors and to our lenders or insurers in connection with the operation of our business where such parties have agreed to confidentiality restrictions.
  3. Business Changes. If we become involved in a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, joint venture, securities offering, bankruptcy, reorganization, liquidation, dissolution, or other transaction or if the ownership of all or substantially all of our business otherwise changes, we may share or transfer your information to a third party or parties in connection therewith.
  4. Affiliates. We may also share your information among members of the Ritchie Bros. corporate family for purposes consistent with this Privacy Statement. To the extent that our other corporate family members have access to your information, they will follow practices that are at least as restrictive as the practices described in this Privacy Statement. We use the following service providers to assist us with serving interest based ads and to analyze your interactions with the Service using the technologies described above under “Cookies and Other Technologies”.

Google Analytics – These cookies allow us to understand how you use and interact with our Service. If you don’t want data to be collected and reported by Google Analytics, you can opt-out by installing a browser add-on. Visit the Google Analytics opt-out page for more information.

Google DoubleClick and AdSense – We use these services to serve advertisements we think may be of interest to you based on your previous interactions with the Service and your activity across multiple websites.
